Hi guys! I want to participate in this year zx-dev with a remake of Cauldron. I can show you some screenshots, but I have lots of work to do yet to call it a game. It is still a work in progress. My goal is to have it finished before the deadline and to learn a lot of AGD along the way. Happy halloween! Saludos. 17/11/2018 Development update: the upper half of the map is done, I'm now working on the subterranean screens. Our witch can jump now, I hope that those screens will not be as burdensome as the original. I'm been asked if it will have music... AY music will be the last thing to add once I'm ok with the gameplay and there is enough free memory for it.

Welcome to the party, Manu!! First of all I love your avatar! I love UN Squadron in the SPectrum, it is in my favorite top10 probably and one of the most underrated shooters for the Speccy, for sure in the Top3. Wow, this is a very challenging project, remaking Cauldron! One of the classics As about the pictures, we can not see them, there might be some sort of problem Cheers!

What an interesting project. The original Cauldron was not precisely stellar in Spectrum, pretty sure a remake can improve the gameplay a bit.

That is the idea, Darío. I like the game setting and atmosphere, and the first part about flying around and collecting keys is not that bad. On the other hand, when you enter through the doors, the game loses all the fun, in my humble opinion. I hope I can get a decent second part, much more playable, to improve the experience.
It will be a little shorter than the original too, but maybe that doesn't hurt the game.

Indeed, many people are already asking if you are going to lower the difficulty level in the platforms sections, so I see that it is the plan I have to play more the original one to get a good idea about the initial difficulty and the change afterwards

Quick update: I've built all screens but a few already. The full map is likely to sum 80-81 screens.

February update: Last weeks I've been working a lot with the scripting, mainly the enemies, and I'm not done with that yet, but I'm much closer. There is a lot of games already finished for the dev, but I think I will need every day until deadline Also, I've done some sound testing. Musicizer is great, it gave me some headaches to get it started but now seems to work perfectly fine. I'm proud to have the help of Pak-zer0 for composing an original soundtrack. I wish the game keeps up to his fantastic tunes. Will keep you posted on the progress

Hello Largore, I take advantage of your post to answer all who can have the same question. The game is not published here or somewhere else because I'm still working on it.
I delivered a working copy for the jury of the ZX Dev with a known major flaw related to 128k music: I failed to make the tunes to play smoothly in time for the deadline. Therefore, the game will hardly get any points on the music department despite the hard work of my fellow musician Pak-0. Happily enough, since my only goal was just to take part and enter the same competition than some of my spectrum development heroes, I chose to take part with the game as it was and to keep its distribution on hold until I'm reasonably happy with it to be released.
In case you don't want to wait to the release of the final version, you can send me a private message and I will give you access to the ZX DEV version of the game.
Thank you all for your comprehension.
